About Choose Your Oxford

Oxford Shoes — Classic Silhouette, Barefoot Foundation

Bespoky's Oxford collection brings together 394+ hand-stitched Oxford shoes for men and women, made in Gaziantep, Turkey, by 4th-generation Anatolian artisans. Since 2018, partnering with these workshops, we have built a range that holds the classic Oxford silhouette — closed lacing, low cut, hand-stitched welt — while integrating a true zero drop sole and anatomical wide toe box. The upper is vegetable-tanned calf leather, often burnished, sometimes in suede or nubuck.

This is the Oxford for the modern wearer: classic enough for the boardroom, foot-friendly enough to walk five miles in.

How to Choose Your Oxford

For Daily Wear

A soft-suede or unburnished calf Oxford works well for daily commuting. Look for our pointed-toe and round-toe styles in muted colors — cognac, dark brown, navy. Women's pointed-toe Oxfords are a daily favorite.

For Office / Formal

For office, weddings, and formal occasions, choose burnished smooth calf in classic black, dark brown, or oxblood. The hand-stitched welt construction reads as traditional dress footwear. Pair with tailored trousers or midi skirts. Our women's Oxford and men's Oxford lines cover all formal needs.

For Travel

A single calf Oxford can carry a 10-day trip with business meetings and evening dinners. Pack with cedar shoe trees, condition before departure. Many travel customers report a single pair lasts an entire trip without rotation.

Why Calf Leather, Not Buffalo

Our Oxford upper is calf hide because the 1.6-1.8mm thickness lets us hand-stitch tight detail (broguing, perforations, brogue medallions) and produces a closer-to-the-foot finish. Older bovine leather is too stiff for the precise lasting work an Oxford requires. Read the full comparison.

Care Guide for Oxfords

Smooth Calf Leather Care

Wipe down after each wear. Condition every 4-6 weeks. Polish weekly with a matching cream for burnished styles. Use cedar trees overnight to wick moisture and maintain last shape. Re-burnish at our workshop or any quality cobbler when finish dulls. Full care guide.

Suede / Nubuck Care

Brush with horsehair after each wear. Suede protector spray before first wear. For rain protection, choose smooth calf instead — suede Oxfords are best for dry urban use.

Customer Questions

Are these Oxfords actually office-appropriate?

Yes. The classic Oxford silhouette, hand-stitched welt, and burnished calf upper read as traditional dress footwear. The barefoot features (zero drop, wide toe) are invisible from outside. Many customers wear Bespoky Oxfords to law firms, banks, and consultancies without comment.

Can I wear barefoot Oxfords with a suit?

Yes. Black or oxblood burnished smooth calf is appropriate for suits. The wide toe is anatomical, not square or chunky.

How long does the transition take?

Most office workers transition fully in 4-6 weeks. Wear 1-2 hours day one, build up gradually. Transition guide.

Can these be resoled?

Yes — our Oxford uses hand-stitched welt construction. Any quality cobbler can resole. We also offer in-house resoling at our Gaziantep workshop.

What is a 'pointed toe' barefoot Oxford?

A barefoot pointed-toe Oxford has the wider anatomical interior of a barefoot shoe with a slightly elongated, tapered exterior aesthetic. The toes still splay freely — only the outer silhouette is shaped.
